House in Hove under construction

Hove House underwent a comprehensive transformation of a Victorian London residence, converting it from a house with numerous small rooms into a sequence of well-coordinated spaces that promote a sense of openness and fluidity.

The primary focus of the project was the construction of a rear, composed of two angular forms that nestle together. Externally, this addition sharply contrasts with the backdrop of the original house's painted rear façade. It stands proudly as a distinct feature, characterized by walls made of light-coloured, textured masonry, set into place with roughly applied lime mortar, giving the brick surface a rugged appearance. Despite its outward simplicity, the extension conceals intricate structural elements, all meticulously resolved to maintain the purity of its form.
